PFA Shortlist – Are they having a laugh?

Just a quick point about the Top 4 PFA shortlist, here are the players that are nominated:

Joe Hart, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Scott Parker.

Now, have there been better keepers this season than Joe Hart? Yes. Vorm and Krul specifically.

The man to win the player of the year award? Might as well be considering the others haven't had that great of a season!

Sergio Aguero – he has had a good season, as has Dave-The-Magic-Man-Silva, but both have started to have a dip in form over the last few months. and by dip I mean pretty much vanished, not like Tevez, but on the pitch. Not 100% convinced on this one.

Rooney? Really? Now don’t get me wrong, I like the Roon, but I would hardly call it a Player of the Year quality season, not by a long shot.  But then, Rooney just gets automatically nominated for this sort of thing, because he is the Roon.

RvP – I’m not saying Arsenal are a one man team, but I bet RvP has a serious bad back at the moment, no wonder he is in this list, the only person in this list who should win it.

Scott Scotty Parker – Not a bad selection, added some balls to the Spurs team but not sure if he should have quite make the cut.

Players who are AWOL from this list.

I was scratching my head as to why Dempsey wasn’t in this list, if he had Lampard written on the back of his shirt he would have been nominated.

Kompany, Cabaye, Britton, Vorm, Krul, Ba and Yaya Toure all spring to mind as players who could have easily been nominated.

This is further proof that they might as well just pick a winner (RvP) and then fill in the rest of the slots from over-hyped players from the top 4.

Agreed. I thought the players knew best until reading this shortlist! Michel Vorm and Tim Krul have been every bit as good as Joe Hart, without players of the calibre of Kompany and Micah Richards in front of them. Brad Friedel is also surely worth a mention and Benoit Assou-Ekotto has to be in the team of the season.

I have to disagree with Scott Parker’s nomination as well. Why does everyone continue to ignore Michael Carrick? He’s been at the heart of the United midfield for years, winning trophies, but is continually overlooked for England. People only seem to have been singing Parker’s praises since everyone started calling him Scotty.

It’s difficult to argue with Dave Silva, Serg Aguero, RVP and The Roon, but Demba Ba and Clint Dempsey have also been pretty consistent this season.
