Fantasy Premier League tips – Gameweek 9

They may be struggling in Europe, but they’re getting into their stride in the Prem – image from

Last minute words of wisdom really doesn’t do this justice. Last minute words would be more accurate, but here goes! When you’re playing Mr Johnny Come Lately with the advice, you can’t really go all controversial so this may well sound like we’ve not thought much about this, but we’re all over Manchester City this week. They had a hugely disappointing time in the Netherlands in mid-week and although the European dream is looking a real long shot at the minute, we’d expect Roberto Mancini’s side to go from strength to strength in the Premier League. And considering no one looks like they want to win it this season, they might as well have another go!

City have been presented a wonderful opportunity to bounce back from their Champions League foul up, with a home game against a Swansea side that, let’s face it, have really petered out after a great start. Following their home banker against the Swans, the Champions travel to Upton Park and although we’re not saying it’ll be easy, we are backing them. They’ve not been fantastic at keeping cleanies this season, so you’d be best looking higher up the pitch. With all the injuries/unavailable players in the midfield, this gameweek is great opportunity to take some value for money from the City midfield and bring in Scott Sinclair (£6.3m). We’d also recommend looking at Samir Nasri (£8.2m). As for the strikers, it is tough to determine who might start these days, but they’re all likely to get some game time. Edin Džeko’s (£7.5m) form (he score’s when he plays!) and price suggest he might be the best City forward to splash out on.

Others worth considering

Stoke City might well keep Sunderland out this weekend, so we’re looking to play Asmir Begović (£4.7m) as a cheap keeper. Even though they’ve got United, you can’t afford to be without Chelsea’s Juan Mata (£9.2m) right now. Up top, we don’t like to do it, but Luis Suárez (£9.7m) may well upset the Toffees tomorrow.

Best of luck
